EXPECT THE BEST by Ralph Marston

SIDEBAR: BEING CYNICAL IS TOO HARSH ON THE HEART!! It makes life unbearable and robs you of hope and joy. So expect and hope for the best. What do you have to loose by doing so? Attorneymom

Today's Daily Inspiration by Ralph Marston

We can show God that we truly love Him by the way we speak and live. May I be inspiring, Lord, and may everyone that I meet find You.

Some people make a practice of expecting the worst, in an effort to avoid being disappointed. Yet when you expect the worst you also focus on it and visualize it, thereby pushing yourself in a negative direction.

A more positive and effective strategy is to expect the best. Then build upon that expectation with preparation and action. Expect the best, and visualize, in great detail, your own participation in it. That puts you into a powerful frame of mind, orients you toward success, and brings your expectations to life.

Expect the best, and you enable yourself to recognize and make full use of the opportunities coming your way. Expect the best, while preparing to handle whatever may come along, and you'll be ahead of the game from the very beginning.

No, life will not always live up to your highest expectations. Yet when the disappointments do come, choose even then to expect the best eventual outcome, and you're much more likely to get it.

Base your expectations on the best that you can imagine for every situation. More often than not, you'll go precisely where you expect to go.

Although it's extremely difficult to always remain in a positive frame of mind concerning day to day struggles, I agree...you have to hold your head.

Good morning, Shwana.

Good morning, Don.

It is easier for some than it is for others. You should still try to stay positive. Negativity destroys. Positive thoughts inspire and preserve the mind, soul and body.

I've been called overly optimistic, hopeless romantic, etc...hey, what can I say? I always try to look for the positive! :-)

Randi, that is a great way to be.

I agree, definitely have to stay positive because being negative about things I cannot control does tend to destroy. As I bear witness.

Inspiration is a good thing.

What do you think about Barack Obama winning the South Carolina primary? Quite a power move, wasn't it?

A Bible teacher at church spoke about a worker at a local Starbucks. He asked how he was doing. The worker joyfully said 'I'm having an absolutely wonderful day. I don't know what the rest of the day will be like but it will be good' or something like that. This just happened maybe a week or two ago. He has mentioned this each time he has spoken. He said that he must live his life like that with a smile on his face.

I either confront or stay away from negative people, especially when I'm going through a challenge. I don't need to be around people that will say 'oh what a shame' all the time. It will keep you in the deep dark hole never to crawl out. I never plan to stay in dark holes:)

Hi Attorney Mom,

I think you must have posted this for me! At least that’s the way it feels.

I am VERY cynical. I generally expect the worse, as the post says, so I'm not disappointed.

I think part of this has to do with being Black in America. After so many incidents of "micro-racism", it becomes an expectation.

For instance when I go into a store I expect to be slighted in someway because I'm African American, if it doesn't happen then I'm happy it didn't.

But if I am slighted, it's no biggie because I expected it.

And I’m starting to expect the worse in relationships too, not good.

I really hope I can learn to take this advice.

I especially like your sidebar. I'll try to take that advice.

Thanks for this post! :)

oh my, such faith is what He seeks from us! Yea Amen!

you know, if you don't expect God to do what you have asked of Him, what He has promised to us, then He will not. His Word says, "that those that wait on, lean on, rely on, trust in and have faith in God, will renew their strength...."

expecting from people, what Only God can give ALWAYS leads to dissappoinment and frustration.
Whatever you expect is what you will rec'!

let me stop--i'll not take up your space AM, but it sounds like the peoples Soul Needs To Pray!

:D

good Word AM !

Wow, that hits home. Mes Deux Cents, I am sometimes the same way and it is one of the hardest things for me to work on. However, I have come along way...but it is still a daily process.
